May 25 - 26, 1985
1ST FESTIVAL 1985 "HOMO CANTAT" COLOGNE
4 Choirs from 4 Countries
DIE TRIVIATAS
In May 1984 the "Triviatas" from Cologne and, "Noot aan de man" from Amsterdam met at a gay festival in Aalkmaar (Netherlands) accidentally and nobody had a presentiment of what would arise from this meeting.
At Whitsuntide 1985 "Homo Cantat" was born: It became a glamorous festivity and people who took part talked about it for a long time. Besides the already mentioned choirs there were "Chour accord" (later on: "Les Caramels fous") from Paris and the "Gay Kor Stockholm". Surprisingly the four choirs were really different. While the French offered a brilliant stage act, the Swedish impressed with an emotionally interpreted oratory of their leader, Falke Antonsson, texted by Walt Whitman. The Dutch presented rhythms full of verve with musical precision and at last the boys from Cologne convinced their audience with a little Mozart divertissement.
