The Roma Rainbow Choir was founded at the end of August 2006, from an idea of what was to be its director Giuseppe Pecce (until December 5, 2014).

The Choir is proudly made up of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexed, heterosexuals, who, through music and song, struggling to spread the culture of respect for any form of love and self-determination. In order that no one should feel threatened, ridiculed, discriminated, marginalized, because of the need to express their human and emotional identity, or simply their free uniqueness by a fence discriminatory called "norm".

The choir is open to all, musicians and amateurs, it is a common space for mutual enrichment, recreation, entertainment, music and personal growth, which embellishes each with their own unique and particular "color" the project that, through passion for music, inclusiveness, acceptance, desire to improve and enhance our community, we have the honor and the burden of building together.

The Roma Rainbow Choir through music, the universal language, speaks to the heart of the people, to aspire to even get to that of the institutions. So always it supports and promotes awareness-raising events for LGBTIQ issues but not only. Because a true civil commitment equates every Battalia of civilization and justice. In less than ten years of existence the choir has important collaborations. Among the many achievements, it established the celebration of the concert linked to the World Day to Combat AIDS (Rainbow Music Against AIDS), and the Concerto for Roma Pride, not always granted his voice to initiatives related to the Day of memory (27 January). From 2014 he helped establish the Coordination of LGBT* Italian choirs (CoCorIta), who created the first Italian Festival of LGBT* choruses, Chromatic.

The cultural program includes, now after 9 years, a repertoire that explores almost 600 years of music history, moving between sacred and profane.

And finally a nod to the logo that represents us. In it appear the notes in the eight colors of the historic first flag Rainbow of 1978 (the two colors pink and blue were lost to production problems), but the Roma Rainbow Choir wanted to remember them and represent them all not to symbolically remove or colors to life, nor the music.

Il Roma Rainbow Choir nasce alla fine di Agosto del 2006, da un’idea di quello che poi sarà il suo direttore Giuseppe Pecce (fino al 5 dicembre 2014).

Il Coro è orgogliosamente costituito da persone gay, lesbiche, bisessuali, transgender, queer, intersessuali, eterosessuali, che, attraverso la musica ed il canto, lottano per diffondere la cultura del rispetto per qualsiasi forma di amore e autodeterminazione. Affinche più nessuno debba sentirsi minacciato, deriso, discriminato, emarginato, a causa del bisogno di esprimere la propria identità umana e affettiva, o semplicemente la propria unicità libera da uno steccato discriminatorio chiamato "norma".

Il Coro è aperto a tutti, musicisti e dilettanti, è uno spazio comune di reciproco arricchimento, di svago, di divertimento, crescita musicale e personale, in cui ciascuno impreziosice, con il proprio unico e particolare "colore" il progetto che, attraverso la passione per la musica, l'inclusività, l'accoglienza, il desiderio di migliorarsi e di migliorare la nostra collettività, si ha l'onore e l'onere di costruire insieme.

Il Roma Rainbow Choir attraverso la musica, linguaggio universale, parla al cuore delle persone, per ambire ad arrivare anche a quello delle istituzioni . Così da sempre appoggia e promuove eventi di sensibilizzazione per le tematiche LGBTIQ ma non solo. Perché un vero impegno civile pone sullo stesso piano ogni battalia di civilta e giustizia. In poco meno di dieci anni di vita il Coro vanta collaborazioni importanti . Tra i tanti risultati raggiunti, ha istituito la ricorrenza del concerto legato alla Giornata Mondiale per la lotta all'AIDS (Rainbow Music Against AIDS), ed il Concerto per il Roma Pride, non facendo mai mancare la sua voce alle iniziative legate al Giorno della Memoria (27 gennaio). Dal 2014 ha contribuito ad istituire il Coordinamento dei Cori LGBT* italiani (CoCorIta) , che ha creato il primo Festival italiano dei cori LGBT*, Cromatica.

La proposta culturale comprende, oramai dopo 9 anni, un repertorio che esplora quasi 600 anni della storia della musica, muovendosi tra sacro e profano.

Ed infine un cenno al logo che ci rappresenta. In esso compaiono le note negli otto colori della storica prima bandiera Rainbow del 1978 (i due colori rosa e azzurro si persero per problemi di produzione), ma il Roma Rainbow Choir ha voluto ricordarli e rappresentarli tutti per non togliere simbolicamente né colori alla vita, né alla musica.
